Welcome to Episode 320 of The Ziglar Show. I’m your proud host, Kevin Miller, and will lead off with my favorite Ziglar quote, “If you believe your product or service can fulfill a true need, it is your moral obligation to sell it.”Today my intent is to sell you, and me, on doing something I for one find…uncomfortable. But, I trust Zig, and I’m going to give away, for free, the tool to make it possible.
The show title comes from something Zig says in the upcoming clip, “The most life changing thing you’ll ever encounter.” If you want to truly change your life for the better, become successful as you define it, this is a foundational key. Which I’m sensitive to say so strongly, as it seems everyone these days is leading off with a headline saying their thing is THE ONLY thing. This isn’t of course the only thing. But when you hear the punchline, I think you’ll come to agree this is foundational. And folks, I’ll start off by saying, I’ve never done it personally, and after this show, I’m going to.
Today’s show is brought to you, by…YOU. Truly. The Ziglar Show is continuing to grow by over 20,000 downloads per month (over 352,000 this May). Why? From testimonies I’ve received, people are hungry for true inspiration and encouragement and someone who believes they are capable of more. Not from patronizing “You can do anything” motivational platitudes, but from really getting to the core of life and who we are and how we naturally tend to go astray…and getting back to truth.
Thank you for listening. Again, I’ll ask, please, take a moment to give us a 5-star rating in iTunes, and if you would, leave a quick review telling people what you get from the Ziglar Show – Ziglar on iTunes.
In the coming shows, we’ll be bringing them to you, supported by some products and services we feel are worthy of the Ziglar name, and will be of benefit to you.
OK, let’s get to our topic and our message from Zig today.
Studies have shown that 80% of our inner self-talk is negative, and the results to our lives are catastrophic. We’re talking in the spirit of Henry Ford’s famous quote “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.”
As you’ll hear in this message from Zig, for people suffering from borderline personality disorder, a leading doctor prescribed they take in positive thinking messages at least 15 minutes a day. To me, this harkens to the Bible and Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. So that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Another way of looking at it…everyday your muscles are getting weaker, staying the same, or getting stronger, based upon how much you do or do not work them out. The results will show as you age.
Likewise, everyday your hope and belief and inspiration that fuels your actions is getting weaker, holding steady, or getting stronger based upon what you tell yourself you believe about yourself. And watch out, don’t think that you don’t talk to yourself. You may not say it out loud or consciously talk to yourself internally, but you are moment by moment taking actions based on what you believe about yourself and what your subconscious psyche is saying and believing.
Most people are just going forward through the grind of the day, going through the motions, with no thought of who or what internal messages are driving them.
So let me ask you, How are you doing? Are you hopeful? Optimistic? Faithful? Are you proud of yourself? Are you at peace with who you are, what you’re adding up to, what you have to show for yourself and your place in life? I’ll admit I can’t say yes to all of those things.
And if not, then you won’t accidentally land at success, however you define it. You’ll most likely land at regret unless you take time everyday to transform your mind.
This is what Zig devoted his life to and became a master at, for himself and teaching others. Why would any of us think we were an exception? Knowing it is pointless. Only doing it counts. Which is the point we’re about to get to in today’s show.
We all have some daily wellness habits:
- Brushing our teeth, taking a shower, personal hygiene
- Exercise, hopefully
- Taking vitamins and eating healthy
- Investing in relationships, tell those we love…we love them
- Investing spiritually
We know who and what we are is the culmination of what we do or don’t do…over the course of our days, weeks and months.
What do we do about…transforming our minds? Let’s talk about this.
The news, music, TV, may inform us entertain us or pass the time, but they don’t transform us. How-to books may teach us things, but that’s not often truly transforming your mind. Zig says the most life changing thing that you will ever encounter is…talking to yourself and saying the right things.
Without further ado, here is Zig. Listen, then…I have something to give you, so you can start. It’s free, and I’m going to do it with you, for the first time in my life.
