This is a “root issue” hack, not a shortcut. Brian Tracy is a legend in personal development. An icon. And he’s still at it hard. No sugar coating, no fluff. He dives right to the heart of personal success. Do yourself a favor and join him…
This is episode 382 of The Ziglar Show and today Tom and I bring you one of the, literally the…top legends in personal development. His name is one of the top five listed, along with Zig Ziglar himself, any time the most influential, inspirational and motivational names of all time are given. Folks, today we have Brian Tracy. And I’ll tell you, this isn’t the normal interview of one of the greats where we ask him to tell us HOW to do this or that. We take this monumental opportunity to ask Brian…WHY. We get his big picture perspective on the state of personal development in today’s culture. This show is truly…an honor.
Friends, my dad is Dan Miller of 48 Days to The Work You Love fame, which you can find at 48days.com, or search for the 48 Days podcast in iTunes and Stitcher. Two of the main guys he hangs with are Michael Hyatt and Dave Ramsey. I bring this up because…his mother and father were born Amish. He grew up on a farm, milking cows at 5 am as a kid.
What brought him to where he is today? Well, a lot, of course. But the messages from people like Earl Nightingale, Dale Carnegie, Zig Ziglar and Brian Tracy were foundational. I’m 45, and these were the main teachers of my life. Zig Ziglar and Brian Tracy, specifically, were more of a driving influence for me than any teacher or pastor.
I bring you Zig from his multitude of recordings. We glean from these and his books and so much content he poured out. But Zig is no longer with us. Brian Tracy…is. He is going strong and continues to drastically influence the world for better.
Today we bring you Brian Tracy. I’ve done a lot of interviews, folks. This one was truly significant. Like sitting at the feet of a great sage, but one that’s down-to-earth, so approachable, and it was as fun as it was profound.
Brian is just raw. He cares too much and has succeeded enough, he has no need to sugar-coat things or pull any punches. Yet you come away feeling he is truly for you. He is a sold-out believer in the potential of all of us to achieve and be more.
The best thing I can do is just give you Brian. But for those who don’t know him, here are some bullet points:
Brian Tracy is Chairman and CEO of Brian Tracy International, a company specializing in the training and development of individuals, executives and organizations. He is among the top speakers, trainers, coaches and seminar leaders in the world today.
Brian Tracy has consulted for more than 1,000 companies and addressed more than 5,000,000 people in 5,000 talks and seminars throughout the U.S., Canada, and 75 other countries worldwide. As a popular keynote speaker and seminar leader, he addresses more than 250,000 people each year.
He has studied, researched, written and spoken for 30 years in the fields of economics, history, business, philosophy and psychology. He is the top-selling author of 72 books that have been translated into 42 languages.
Brian has written and produced more than 1,000 audio and video learning programs, including the worldwide, best-selling Psychology of Achievement, which has been translated into 28 languages.
Folks, this is just touching the surface. Learn all you want at his website, www.briantracy.com.
The last thing before I bring you Brian, and Tom Ziglar, is…you can be with both of them this coming May 13-15, 2016, at a three-day event in Dallas, Texas. Brian is the lead, but he has some heavy-hitting speakers. Tom Ziglar will be a special guest as well! It’s the 20-Year Anniversary of Brian’s Success Mastery Academy. Brian will be personally covering a bevy of foundational, vital success topics.

Now, Tom Ziglar and I bring you…the legend…Brian Tracy:

In this arena, you are top of the list. Thank you for taking time to invest in The Ziglar Show!

Brian, you are a legend and an icon in the history of personal development. One of the fathers. Zig was a contemporary of yours, a fellow shepherd of the era of a mass movement in personal development.
Arenas with tens of thousands of people.
Today that arena is online, and is, of course…very active.
You give primary focus to:
- Personal Development
- Sales Training
- Business Training
- Time Management
- Public Speaking
In this show, I want to get your feedback and wisdom from a big picture viewpoint on those six topics. I’m calling on Brian Tracy as an industry sage.
I am positive. I am optimistic. But I see some voids in the pursuit of true success and want to talk and get them out on the table so we can get to our true potential!
So #1, Personal Development. I know we all spend our time focused on the positive. And, in looking at personal development, we see lots of good things happening.
You said in recent years, and I quote, “Today, we are living in the ‘Golden Age,’ the wealthiest time in all of human history. More people are living longer and better, and making more money than ever before.”
This is, of course, true. Though it intrigues me that in this time, because of our affluence, we are one of the unhealthiest nations in the world. We have more disease and illness than ever before. We’re great at fixing it, but it exists, nonetheless. We are growing more obese and encumbered every day.
I wonder how this relates to personal development. Where do you see our culture in the past decade and now in regards to their attentiveness and understanding of the need for investing in personal development?

Before we hit #2, Leadership, I want to ask you a question Brian, regarding your upcoming three-day event in Dallas, Texas, May 13-15, 2016, where Tom Ziglar will be a special guest! It’s the 20-Year Anniversary of yourSuccess Mastery Academy. You have amazing speakers and you are personally covering a bevy of foundational, vital success topics.
Between the time this show goes live on iTunes and Stitcher, and when the event takes place, over 30,000 individuals will listen to it. These are folks used to getting great content from the comfort of their home, car, office, hiking trail, beach and…wherever they choose to be. For those who have ever attended a live event, I hope they know the answer to this question. But I’ll ask you to talk to those who haven’t, as to why they should spend the money and time to physically come to Dallas, Texas, to attend in person. Why not just send them the audio?

2. Sales training has been and is a primary focus for you, Zig, and other pillars of success training. You and Zig are both renowned for stating that everyone is in sales. If you were giving a graduating university commencement speech on the value and necessity of sales skills for everyone, how would you frame it?
>> Hear Brian’s answers on the show
3. Business training. I know your message enough to know you call strongly on the foundational pillars of business success as evergreen. Of course, the Internet has changed some of the vehicles and methodologies of business. But in regards to the easy and immediate dissemination of information, the lack of face-to-face engagement, and new cultural expectations and perspectives, how have you had to redefine your own business structure in even the past five years?
>> Listen to the show
4. Leadership. Here I’m going to ask for your commentary…not on what it takes to be a leader or to lead. But on…where you often see others missing it on what really makes a leader. What burdens you in the cause for leadership training?
